Happy Easter

Happy Easter Sunday everyone! I had big plans for today.. First of all, I dropped my dad off in the airport at 1:00am, then I planned to go to Busselton with a few friends but that did not happen. I planned to go to church, but that did not happen either. Ended up waking up at 12:30. Missed the whole egg hunting and the whole Easter Sunday fun in the morning sun. Man I miss those days. I remember when I was a kid, back home in the Philippines. On Black Saturday, we would boil so many eggs, and start painting them with water color. Then for the afternoon snack, we would eat binignit and go back to painting more eggs. On Easter Sunday, me and my sister would hide the eggs all around the garden, then head straight to church with my friends. After mass, we would invite my friends to come over and go egg hunting! It was so much fun. I remember painting the "golden egg"; it was the biggest egg and the kid who would find it would get a prize. After all the egg hunting, my helper would prepare some more binignit and we would all eat it. Good old days. Easter was probably meant for children, because as an adult I don't remember doing anything special.

When I got a bit older (in my teens) the only thing I remember was a shark attack during Easter Sunday. What happened was, a friend called me up (we weren't that close of friends, but it was so kind of them to put the effort!), and they asked us if they could come over. We said yes of course! So they came, and it was a bit awkward, since me and my sister were shy, and they were shy too. So my sister decides we all go swimming, just to break the ice. They told us they didn't know how to swim, but we told them it was no problem since we had a hair boat (inflatable kayak). So we went to the deep, and me, being my kind self, jumped to the water and started pretending it was shallow (it really wasn't shallow, I was just pretending). Anyways, they figured I was lying, so they said to see how deep it was. So I dove to get some sand in the murky waters of Talisay, just to show them that it wasn't deep at all. I had to dive about 2x my height to get some sand, and went back up. After I wiped the water off my face, I saw my sister in complete shock and she was pointing at something behind me and shouted "Alie SHARK!!!". I turned around and saw something splashing towards me (it was about a meter and a half away) and I never forgot the image in my head because it looked like a black head of a little boy splashing (the image of a SHOKOY). For once in my life, I have never felt that much fear, and I do not remember how fast I was able to swim into the kayak which was 3 meters away from me, but it felt like a split second. As I jumped into the hair boat, the shark turned around and went back under the water. Me and my friends were all traumatized, and started calling out to shore "HELP! SHARK!". Stupid enough, all the dumb assed people in Talisay looked at us and made fun of us. No one believed we saw a shark, or almost got attacked by one. But anyways, after all that, I was never able to step into the sea (quite a disgrace because I live in front of the sea) for a year. It was a very traumatizing experience, and it happened on Easter Sunday.

But today, it wasn't much different. I went to Scarborough beach but did not swim. Not only because of the fear of sharks, but because the water in Australia is too cold for me. I just ended up taking some pictures of surfers. Just reminds me, I need to get a new lens to take better shots. Hehe.
